Chris Edmondson

The south west of Western Australia is unashamedly the source of Chris’ foot-tapping, storyteller style.  Plying his trade as solo singer/songwriter, Chris has worked the wineries, wheat-bars, folk clubs, festivals and country fairs pretty much all over the bottom left-hand corner of the continent for more than a decade.

Along the way there have been three releases  - “..Five Stories…Ten People…” (2001), “The Hut Chapter” (2003) & “Somewhere South of Somewhere -Live” (2004) with a re-release of “…Five Stories…Ten People…” in October 2009 to coincide with a range of appearances on the West Australian folk festival calendar, including the Nanga Folk Festival & the Folk in The Forest Festival.

Specialising in what could best be described as "conversational" styled performances; the strength of Chris’ show comes as a result of his ability to engage in banter, waffle intelligently, tell the odd story or eight, while exploring anything from anywhere that could be described as a story song and throwing in a few sing along classics to boot.

Chris has often hit the road every January to tour solo across the country and play the Tamworth Country Music Festival, simply for the reason that “someone might like to hear some story songs”.  Amongst all this Chris has done band stints in legendary LA clubs while on desperate last ditch international tours, self-financed an American café tour and still found his way back to self-promote shearing shed concerts in country Western Australia driven only by an acoustic guitar and tales to tell.

With what is approaching four years worth of material to sort out, Chris is continuing work in the studio on a new release with the approach of capturing the simplicity of the songs and letting the stories do the talking, before heading out on the road again.

Lauren & Aaron Moloney

Lauren Brede is a young Australian acoustic music artist who also writes many of her own songs. She was raised in the country town of Boddington which greatly influenced her view of life and music in Australia but has more recently broadened her music intensity to include blues and roots. Many industry professionals have commented that her song lyrics tell of experiences beyond her years evident when at the young age of 16 she won the WAM Song of the Year. As part of this prize she completed an EP called Take Time, in late 2005. More recently Lauren attended the Australian Songwriter’s Awards Night in Sydney where she was invited to perform one of her own compositions and was nominated for several awards. In the past twelve months she has teamed with a young talented guitarist, Aaron Moloney, whose skills are highlighted throughout the acoustic gigs performed around the south west. The quality of musicianship both heightens and compliments the vocals to provide the audience with a close up and engaging performance of two local talents. These young performers move from strength to strength as they showcase their talents at various venues.

Greg Hastings

The combination of a unique voice, a wealth of songs and stories, a warm friendly approach and a fine didgeridoo style make up the talents of one of Australia's favorite performers; Greg Hastings.

As an entertainer Greg has an instinctive rapport with his audience and that ability to create an interesting and light hearted atmosphere. His Welsh origins are betrayed by a lilting accent and this, accompanied by his wry sense of humour, guitar and didgeridoo, draws his audience into the show.

The Last Stand

The Last Stand has been running around for the best part of a decade. Over the time there has been many different band members culminating in the final four members of today with the only inaugral member of the band being the frontman Kim Hough. There have been two generations of the Wallace and the Simpson family involved in the wellbeing of the band but this is definately not saying that The Last Stand is a family band. The Last Stand always leaned towards playing popular pub rock and ROCK being the definitive word. The band has always been willing to travel long distances for gigs and have been known for being a working class band with great value for money.

De Ja Blue
DeJa Blue are a two piece husband and wife combo who have spent considerable time in their recording studio recording and producing their own backing tracks, and creating their own flavour, for a variety of popular retro covers. This technology allows them to present a full band sound, and yet retain the freedom and flexibility to work without the backing tracks, thus allowing them to present a wide range of material to a broader audience.
DeJa Blue’s main vocalist, Cheryl, is a singer/guitarist with over 15 years of experience in a wide range of genres from jazz through to country. She has played in, and fronted bands such as Starpickets, ( 1999 W.A. Country Music Award winners ), Blue Suede Groove, ( a twelve piece Jazz/Swing big band ), and several other Pop/Cover bands and small jazz combo’s. Cheryl has performed at 9 Bridgetown Blues Festivals.
Monty – Bass/Guitar/Banjo/Vocals, has around 40 years experience in the music industry. During the 70’s he worked in bands under contract to the “Millers” pub circuits in N.S.W., and later worked the R.S.L. and Leagues Clubs circuits before returning to W.A. where he worked in various Pop/Cover/Cabaret bands. The most recent of these was The Love Handles, a blues band who worked extensively around W.A., and an experimental Jazz/Swing band Fat Dog Drinking. Monty has played at 5 Bridgetown Blues Festivals.
