Woolorama President's Final Remarks

Woolorama President's Final Remarks

 Thu, 11th Mar, 2021

Wagin Agricultural Society President Howie Ward’s closing comments for Wagin Woolorama 2021.

The 49th Wagin Woolorama was a challenge. We were the last major show to be held before COVID-19 hit in 2020 and now this year we are the first major agricultural show to go ahead COVID Safe in 2021.

It has been a huge adventure, to say the least, for all our staff and volunteers, but we are delighted that we were able to put together a community event for the 20,000 people through the gates over the two days.

A big thank you to all the exhibitors, whether showing your goods or entering in the competitions. Your faith in us was appreciated and hopefully, it has paid off for you.

The week leading up to the Woolorama was interesting weather-wise but two glorious days for the show was enjoyed by all, not too hot and not too cold, just perfect.

With near capacity for trade-fair exhibitors and many interesting competitions all over the grounds, visitors had much to see and do, culminating in the Rodeo, Saturday night. A successful and sold-out event enjoyed by all.

To all our volunteers, thank you so much for your dedication and hard work to run the Woolorama. It is truly humbling how much you all do to make a successful two days. Again, I say, thank you. To all our patrons who attended, thank you for being COVID Aware and for adhering to the requests made of you.

This was my last of three years as President, but I will be there to support the incoming president, and we all look forward to the 50th anniversary of the Woolorama next year.
