M - Young Farmer Challenge

Woolorama Rural Youth Ambassador & WA NextGen Ag proudly presents the Wagin Woolorama Young Farmer Challenge again in 2023. If you and your mates are aged between 18 & 35 years and want to show your farming skills and have a bit of fun, register with your team members.

CHALLENGE DETAILS

When | Saturday 4pm, Registration from 3pm
Where | The grassed area next to the Wine Baa
Contact | Woolorama Rural Ambassador 98 611 611
Prize Money | 1st: $200 (TBA), 2nd: $100 (TBA)
Details | Teams of 4 people (must have at least one male and one female in each team).
Safety | Entrants must wear a sleeved shirt and covered shoes.

The challenge allows young farmers from around the region to showcase the depth of knowledge and technical skill required in agriculture today. Challenges may include things such as heavy lifting, vehicle movement, first aid, fencing, a theory component, movement of livestock, or any other thing you could think of that might be done on a farm.

The teams will be required to complete a series of fun farming-based activities within a given timeframe. Challenge details will not be specified/released until the competition starts with time penalties applied for inadequate completion of tasks.

Woolorama YFC will run in heats, with two teams facing off at a time. The team that completes the course in the fastest time will be awarded prize money (i.e. no finals, you only get one shot at it).

You do not have to be a farmer to enter. There is the potential for friendly competition amongst local groups. For instance, you might challenge the members of your hockey team to go up against each other, or heats could be arranged such as shearers vs farmers or footy vs hockey. Just let the organisers know about your "in-house rivalry" at the time of registering.

The winning team at the Woolorama will be eligible to contest the State Final at the Perth Royal Show in Sept/Oct this year, and the winner from that will represent WA at the National Finals on the east coast.
